About the project
CCEd Online Journal is a new initiative of the AHRC-funded project, The Clergy of the Church of England Database 1540–1835. Its purpose is to provide a forum for the publication and discussion of research on all aspects of the history of the clergy and Church of England between the Reformation and the nineteenth century. The Journal is not limited to papers that have utilized the Database, though it clearly welcomes such contributions.
CCEd Online Journal is divided into two sections:
- Articles includes scholarly research papers on themes and problems related to all aspects of the history of the clergy and Church of England. The Journal does not impose a word limit and is pleased to consider submissions that are much longer that those normally accepted by print journals.
- Notes and Queries. This section of the journal provides a forum for more focused papers on, for example, individual clergymen or schoolmasters who have an interesting career, the history of particular parishes or chapelries, or the record relating to the Church and clergy and the administrative practices that generated them.
A distinctive feature of the Journal is the inclusion of responses to both Articles and Notes and Queries. This aim of this is facilitate and encourage wider debate. Responses will also be peer reviewed and authors will be invited to comment on them.
Another distinctive feature of the Journal is the potential to include not only illustrations and tables, but also to publish supporting materials, such as small databases.
All contributions are peer reviewed. Following receipt and acceptance of a final version of the paper, we expect to publish within three months.
